Favourite Lisa Jewell Book:
- I Found You – I reviewed this book about a year ago and was completely blown away by how much this book sucked me in. Jewell masters suspense and the thriller genre in this book, keeping the reader hooked right until the last page.
- Before I Met You – I loved the historical aspect of this book and the back and forth from the present to the past. The two stories come together beautifully and the back and forth between the two timelines really propels the reader through the book.
- The Girls In The Garden – I had NO idea about the end of this book until I got there; this alone makes me love this book. The interested plot and intriguing characters also helped.
Lisa Jewell Books I Haven’t Read Yet:
- After The Party
- The Making Of Us
- The Third Wife
- The House We Grew Up In
Haunting. That is the first word that comes to mind when I think of this book. Lisa Jewell writes in such a realistic and gut-wrenching style that I felt every emotion in this book, which was harder to take at some points as it is centered on child disappearance.
In typical Jewell style, she tells the story beautifully with painful suspense (which, in case you are confused, is the BEST kind of suspense!). I have mentioned before, and I will say it again, I am not a huge fan of thriller books, but my #1 exception is with Lisa Jewell. She puts a spell on the readers and pulls them into the story making her thriller novels absolute impossible books to put down!
I loved the alteration between past and present in this book and felt that it made the book even more enticing and a page-turner. I would have loved for this book to be a little faster paced, but the amount of OMG moments helped to make up for the slightly slower pace than what I usually like. Besides, I find the Lisa Jewell has her own pace and the pace of THEN SHE WAS GONE was very similar to her past books I have read.
I will definitely be recommending this book – especially to fans of the thriller genre and of course to Lisa Jewell fans.
